Maureen Cavanaugh Kastl

Maureen Cavanaugh Kastl started dancing at the age of 12. (Later than most students.) She quickly caught up due to the tutelage of an excellent teacher and performing became her first love.

In addition to performing at school and in community theater, she began to teach and ran the City Dance Program, while still in high school. Only a few months after graduation, she earned her equity card in the musical, “The Unsinkable Molly Brown.” Many musicals followed, “Kiss Me Kate,” “Guys and Dolls,” “Promises Promises,” and “West Side Story,” where she met Mr. Kastl.

At the age of 20 she was asked to stage the bus and truck company of “Promises Promises” in Michael Bennett’s absence. (Produced by David Merrick.) Her talent for choreography took her down the path of director and choreographer for numerous industrials which she co-produced with her husband Paul.
